The problem is that the movie clearly has important people that helped this film materialize are known liberals (Spielberg and Hanks). If you know liberals, they like to take a film and inject their own politics into it. So is this film really about WW2 or a revisionist historical film? I mean I'm already feeling like we should feel sorry for the Japs and be mad at G.I.s during that one shooting scene. People watching that film will walk off thinking all the Americans are scum.
That's not it at all, the Japanese tortured and killed one of their fellow GI's, both sides committed atrocities. The idea that Hanks and Spielburg are trying to portray, imo, is that even though they are at war, the enemy are still human beings with families, friends, and pain. They're not trying to be hippies, they are just trying to show what the men in the pacific had to deal with.

There's plenty of torrents for it around.

Please do not discuss torrents on this forum or you will be given an infraction. It is apart of the forum rules so please respect them.

Thank you,
Hells

I'm not sure why you would give him a infraction for talking about torrents. In away you further the stereotype that all torrents and the people that use them are pirates. HBO released the first edition via their site for the public. Since some people can't view the video because they live in regions that are unable to view it, why wouldn't the next logical idea be to use a torrent?

Do we HAVE to bring politics into this? I'd hate to see this thread locked.

This is not a discussion regarding torrents. HBO have regional restricted the video on their website for good reason. We have no problems people talking about this show (or any other for that matter) just please do not discuss torrents, locations to get torrents or any other illegal means to get products as per the forum rules.

Thank you and back on topic:

I'm looking forward to watching the show but unfortunately haven't had time. I'm currently watching Band of Brothers with my girlfriend who's never seen it.

I'm not trying to start an argument with you. It's just that you don't seem to understand what torrents are other than vehicles to obtain unpaid for software, which is false. Then you throw around the word "illegal" to watch this video uploaded on Youtube or some torrent, which is false. And you might want to learn the difference between "illegal" and something that is remedy through "civil proceedings."

The reason, the biggest one of them all, for videos not being made public to certain regions is because of laws that deal with the content in the video. Now this isn't always true when it comes to the US not being able to view certain videos either from the UK or some other country. That is usually has to do with licensing issues.

Basically I'm saying that all US laws have stated that if something is made "public" it is in the "public domain." So if you try and take this issue to court, if you actually make it to court, it will be thrown out because an organization can't say "my product I made available for free was stolen from me." The only thing that organization could take you to court for is if you sold copies of that video.

If you want, I will be more than happy to actually cite the court cases so you don't think I'm making up stuff. Hell, I'll even let you view my profile on the consumer/commercial law firm I work for.

Sorry for hijacking this thread. I just felt it was my obligation to correct false information.

I stand corrected. It is not illegal it is just not-licenced. But still we would rather you people did not post links to torrents on this forum which are legal or not.

If you're unsure if you should post something then feel free to contact a moderator via pm and we'll get back to you.

And the conversation continues.

Thanks,
Hells

You could try this (not a torrent!):

http://www.fancast.com/

You have to register to watch so I can't guarantee it'd work.
